Procedure and Fees involved to Marry a Cuban

If you are planning to marry a Cuban in the UK the major difficulty is getting a visa for your Cuban fiance or fiancee to leave the country. Generally a cultural visa is the quickest to be approved in three to four weeks, otherwise you may wait up to six months to be granted a travel permit.

Once married you will still require the appropriate documentation to legally live in the UK.

If You Have Never Married and are a Single UK National

If you are single UK National and have never been married, you will require the following documents:

Only original documents are accepted.

• Valid passport
• Birth certificate
• Certificate of No Impediment

The original documents in English must be accompanied by a Spanish translation (for legal purposes in Cuba).

This translation needs to be notarized, legalized by the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office, and finally legalized and certified by the Cuban consulate.

Total cost includes:

• Attending in person at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office to have the documents legalized
  
• Attending in person at the Cuban Consulate to lodge the legalized and translated documents.
  
• Attending in person at the Cuban Consulate to collect the legalized and translated documents.
  
• Notary Public services where applicable.
  
• Translation of Birth Certificate into Spanish.
  
• Translation of Certificate of No Impediment into Spanish.
  
• Relevant courier services.
  

Legalized documents are only valid for six months from the date of issue.
